Blogging?!

Writer: Ian (GSL)Ian (GSL)

Our website provides many tools for our Group - parents, leaders, and the young members themselves. The idea of a blog is just one of them!

Young people within the Group are encouraged to look at the Digital Maker (https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/4283/digital-maker-staged-activity-badge) and Digital Citizen (https://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/4282/digital-citizen-staged-activity-badge/?cat=11,18,773&moduleID=10) Staged Activity Badges. Both of these fit well with the #SkillsForLife theme promoted by Scouting, especially given the digital world in which we live.

To this end, we can offer our website (or sections of it) as a content playground for our young members. Unlike Facebook and similar platforms, we have control over the content of our website, which means it is a much safer digital environment for our young members to stretch their creative digital legs.

To that end, we can offer:

  • Blog authoring

  • Page design

  • Secure "members-only" area

  • CMS experience

  • ...and more

We will be covering some of these things in our meetings, but it is obviously impractical for a Scout Group to provision internet access and devices to give the young members the hands-on experience! So, if a young member does have interest in pursuing digital activities, and wishes to make use of our website (under guidance) in this way, then please get in touch.
